Julie Heng, Print Editor-in-Chief
Julie Heng is the editor-in-chief of The Huron Emery. This year, she was named Michigan’s Student Journalist of the Year, a Runner-Up for the Journalism Education Association’s National Journalist of the Year and a Finalist for Youth Journalism International’s Student Journalist of the Year. She has reported for the Detroit Free Press and Youth Radio and has won multiple awards from the National Scholastic Press Association, Columbia Scholastic Press Association, Journalism Education Association, Michigan Interscholastic Press Association, and Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, including Finalist for Story of the Year. When not writing, Julie enjoys debating in mock trial, watching figure skating, and discussing exoplanet theories. She is also the most indecisive person on the planet. Luckily, progress is being made: she recently decided her favorite color is violet. Usually.
