While the official start date has been moved back, spring sports have hosted voluntary practices and conditioning sessions.

On Feb. 22, 2020, the MHSAA announced that spring sports will be bumped back from March 15 to at least March 22. This comes after concern due to scheduling conflicts with winter sports (primarily basketball).

“Obviously, the reasons are there would be a ton of congestion for indoor facilities and some students still trying to go in between sports,” MHSAA spokesperson Geoff Kimmerly said per MLive. “Although, by then, the great majority will be done with winter”.

Sophomore Nick Cantrell, who plays golf for Huron, agrees with this postponement.

“As mad as I am about my sport being pushed back, it is for a good reason,”Cantrell said. “It [probably] should be canceled since we’re talking about a virus that has killed millions”.
