A total solar eclipse will be visible on Monday, April 8, 2024. It will enter the United States from Mexico, stretching from Texas to Maine. Although the eclipse will only be passing through the Luna Pier Area of Monroe County, Mich. for under a minute, it will be in totality in Cleveland, Ohio between 3:13 and 3:17 p.m. EDT.
Ann Arbor Public Schools will be distributing eclipse glasses to all staff members and students. These will filter out nearly all visible light, and should only be removed for a brief period when the sun is completely covered by the moon’s shadow. Students will be able to collect a pair of glasses from their third hour classroom.
For more information on the eclipse, you can visit the AAPS Eclipse 2024 FAQ for Schools.
“We want this to be a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone!” said AAPS Executive Director Liz Margolis.
