On Tuesday, Sept. 12, the senior class arrived at the football stadium for the traditional Senior Sunrise, an early morning set by the Executive Board for seniors to gather together before school.

Senior Justine Reilly woke up at 5:05 a.m., almost an hour earlier than she usually would. Surprisingly, she didn’t find it hard to get up.

“It was kind of fun because I knew I was going to get Starbucks and see my friends,” Reilly said.

When she arrived at the field with her friend, it was very dark. Originally, the advertised arrival time was 6:30 a.m., but it was pushed back to 7 a.m. Reilly still arrived around 6:30 a.m., so she was one of the first people to arrive.

“We went on the field and waited,” Reilly said. “It was a little bit cloudy and the field was wet.”

Because of the drizzle, the sunrise wasn’t clear. In addition, there weren’t as many seniors in attendance.

“I was kind of hoping it’d be on the first day of school because that’s when it usually is,” Reilly said. “I think it would’ve been more fun on the first day of school because everyone would’ve been excited to go to school and see their friends and stuff.”

Despite the minor setbacks, the get-together was still successful.

“I had as much fun as I could that early in the morning,” Reilly said.
