Sophomore Saturday: Justine Reilly

Anna Esper, Staff Writer

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and what hobbies/sports you do.

A: “My name is Justine, I’m a sophomore. I like to play soccer and read.”

Q: After spending a year with classmates virtually, what’s it been like to finally see people in person?

A: “It’s definitely been weird. Especially meeting people that I only had online classes with. I feel like I made up a version of them in my head, and most of the time they’re much different than I thought they would be.”

Q: Who helped you the most in getting through last year and why?

A:  “My friends and family (also my cat). It was really nice to know that if I ever needed help with an assignment I could facetime a friend and we would do it together. It was also nice having my mom and my brother to rant to after having a bad day.”

Q: Describe something about coming back to school in person that has surprised you?

A: “I’d say just the high school environment in general. Since we were online almost all year last year, I never got to experience what an average day at Huron was actually like, so that’s definitely been surprising.”

Q: Which of your classes are you most excited for and why?

A: “I’m taking engineering right now, and that’s been fun. It’s been interesting seeing what engineering is all about. The projects have been fun too. I got to make a pumpkin with the 3D printer the other week, so that was pretty cool.”

Q: What are your thoughts about personal project? When do you think you’ll get started on your work?

A: “I’m redesigning a bathroom, and I’m really close to being done. I really like the idea of personal projects, it’s basically just giving us more time to do something we enjoy doing.”

Q: If you could change one thing from your freshman self, what would it be?

A: “I think I would tell myself to put myself out there more, and talk to new people. Also just stop worrying so much, everything will work out.”
