Q: What class is your project for?

A: This project is for Intro to Psychology. We are currently in our developmental unit and have to take care of a sock baby for a week. 

Q: What are sock babies?

A: Sock babies are essentially socks filled with either rice or paper to partly imitate real babies. We nurture and take care of these babies the same way we would for an actual child, and learn the different stages of development, along with the crisis each stage undergoes while doing so.  

Q: How has your experience with the sock babies been? 

A: So far it’s been great! I had a very fun time creating and personalizing my sock baby, and seeing the classes differing sock babies was also really cool since each one was very unique and different. I’ve also enjoyed bringing her everywhere and introducing her to everyone! 

Q: What have you learned through this experience so far? 

A: I’ve learned that although sock babies aren’t real babies, they still require a lot of responsibility. I would almost forget my baby at home or would almost leave her by herself, which really taught me to hold myself more accountable. 

Q: What is one thing about this experience that really stood out to you?

A: One thing that stood out to me was the fact that my sock baby was growing at a rapid pace, she would enter a new stage of development each day which came with different crises that I would have to help her solve.
