AAPS closes schools tomorrow, Jan. 17, due to inclement weather and building issues.

AAPS is continuing to keep schools closed tomorrow, Jan. 17, due to building issues within multiple schools, a continuation of low temperatures and icy roads. Finals have been pushed back two days. According to www.novaregion.org, salt fails to melt ice and snow at temperatures below 15 degrees Fahrenheit. In Ann Arbor, it has been around 8 degrees Fahrenheit the past two days. Tomorrow’s forecast as of Tuesday Jan. 16 at 6:45 p.m. is 4 degrees Fahrenheit. According to weather.gov, the average temperature yesterday was 1 degree and average temperature the day before was 13 degrees.

Thursday, Jan. 18

Exam Day 1: 1st hour (8 a.m.-9:40 a.m.) | 7th hour (10:10 a.m.-11:50 a.m.)

Friday, Jan. 19

Exam Day 2: 2nd hour (8 a.m.-9:40 a.m.) | 3rd hour (10:10 a.m.-11:50 a.m.)

Monday, Jan. 22

Exam Day 3: 4th hour (8 a.m.-9:40 a.m.) | 5th hour (10:10 a.m.-11:50 a.m.)

Tuesday, Jan. 23

Exam Day 4: 6th hour (8 a.m.-9:40 a.m. | Make-up (10:10 a.m.-11:50 a.m.)

Julya Mae is in 11th grade and this is her third year on The Emery. She is co-editor-in-chief for The Emery’s social media. Julya Mae is on Hurons field hockey team and is a part of charity club. In her free time she enjoys reading, listening to music and running. Her favorite snack is apple sauce and her favorite movie is “Home” or “La La Land”.

Satvika is a sophomore, and this is her second year with The Emery and fifth year of newspaper. In her free time, she likes hanging out with her friends, watching movies with her family, and traveling. She is one of the co-presidents of Huron’s Model UN team and participates in multiple other clubs at Huron. She loves collecting earrings and new music, and she is super excited to be one of the print co-editors-in-chief this year!
