Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and what hobbies/sports you do.
A: “My name is Lydia, and I’m a sophomore at Huron. I love sports, especially swim and water polo. I also do synchronized swimming. I really love being outside, especially in the summer, running or walking or really anything as long as it’s in nature.”
Q: How is this years learning different than last years?
A: “It’s definitely more work but it’s really manageable. It’s helped me to learn under pressure and find out what works for me in terms of school work.”
Q: Which classes have you found the most interesting and why?
A: “I’m taking AP U.S. History and it’s a lot of work but it’s definitely my most interesting class. Aside from stress about homework, it’s really fun and engaging and is probably my favorite class as well.”
Q: Describe something that surprised you coming back to school this year that you weren’t expecting?
A: “Definitely all the new people. I’ve made so many new friends this year, and found friendship in places I never expected to. Putting myself out there this year has been really rewarding.”
Q: What are your thoughts about personal project? What were some challenges you have faced so far? What are you working on?
A: “I honestly don’t think personal project is necessary, especially when students have so many required credits to fill. I made a cookie recipe for personal project, and it was really fun, but in the end I don’t really think I learned much from the class.”
Q: If you could change one thing from your freshman self, what would it be?
A: “I would definitely want to be more social. I was really introverted in most of my classes and I’ve realized that class is much more bearable when you talk to people, even if you don’t know them. I’ve made a lot of new friends this year, I just wish it could have been the same last year.”
