On Friday, April 24, men’s golf had a nine-hole varsity (V) match with Tecumseh High School at Washtenaw Golf Club. From 4 to 5 p.m., the preface of the home game, there were weather conditions that delayed the match around an hour.
While combatting the inclement circumstances, the coach Patrick Kelly brought Barry’s Bagels, which players on. Later using waterproof golf vests and umbrellas when rain lightened, the game continued.
The junior varsity (JV) group played behind the varsity players.
Huron V won with a score of 162 scores to Tecumseh’s 170 strokes with Seed 1 being senior Yash Srivastava and Seed 2 being freshman Ryder Wilkie. While the JV team were not actively competing in this match, they finished with 187 strokes.
“A lot of young new faces [this year],” Kelly said. “And they [might] develop into anything promising by maybe the end of the season or going into next year.”
For the current spring season, this was the first victory for men’s golf.
