It is estimated that Disney spent nearly $80 million creating the animated film, which has since gone on to earn an estimated $273,144,151 worldwide.
The effect on merch
There has been a spike in merchandise for Stitch including more plushies and clothes. Even keychains are getting made more because of the live action movie.
But more people are joining the fandom due to the new movie.
The multi-talented Chris Sanders wrote the script for “Lilo & Stitch,” directed the production, and even lent his voice to the character in the film. This means $100 million was spent to make the movie.
The effect on the fandom
The fandom has grown massively due to the new live action movie. More people are seeing the movie. Even I watched it in the movie theater on my birthday as gift. But I still love the original movies even though more kids are being exposed to the series and more kids are joining the fandom.
According to Stitch’s dog license at the shelter, Lilo and Nani’s last name is “Pelekai.” Their last name is dedicated to Pele, the goddess of fire and volcanoes in Hawaii, and Kai, which means seawater in Hawaiian. I want to see more people, both young and old, to feel the love of this movie.
I want more people to buy the merch and show support to the movie so the movie stays popular. Who doesn’t love the armed blueberry? But overall, I want more people to support the movie either by buying the merch or watching the movie.
