Tuesday, April 4, the Huron Women’s Tennis team had their first match of the year.  They were matched up against Father Gabriel Richard High and were favored to win.  They played as the away team, although not travelling far to the nearby Huron Valley Tennis Club.  Huron came out victorious and won 6 flights while FGR only won 2.

“I feel that our performance as a team was very solid,” Serena Chang said, “We came out with certain goals in mind and I believe that we succeeded in meeting them.”

Despite Huron coming out on top, Chang feels that they have to get better at performing in longer matches with all different types of weather.  She thinks it is an important skill for the team to have increased stamina and they will be working on that as the season goes on in order to be playing at the highest level.

“It was pretty windy for the most part during the match, but was not as bad as the weeks previous to the match,” Cucos said.

The team plays again on Wednesday, April 12, against Woodhaven and Thursday, April 13, against Tecumseh.

“I think the rest of the season will be filled with some tough opponents and fun challengers,” Chang said.
