Q: Tell us a little about yourself.

A: “I’m Annabelle and I’m a sophomore. I love eating apple sauce and watching cheesy romantic comedies.”

Q: What is your favorite class and why?

A: “Probably English. I enjoy reading in my free time, so a lot of the class is just an extension of that. My favorite part of this year was reading the books Speak and Kindred.”

Q: What hobbies/sports/clubs do you do and why do you like them?

A: “I play the piccolo and flute in the Huron symphony band as well as the Detroit Youth Wind Ensemble. I enjoy playing in these ensembles not only because I love music but because it really feels like a family and a community that I belong to. I also love reading random books that TikTok recommends to me as a form of escapism, especially in the state the world is in right now.”

Q: Once the pandemic ends and social distancing restrictions are removed, what’s the first thing you plan to do?

A: “I want to travel to a beach somewhere with my friends and just sit there and do nothing.”

Q: What’s an interesting/unique fact about yourself?

A: “I’m not very interesting but I was born in San Francisco, and to this day it’s still my favorite place to visit. Also, it turns out that I’m pretty good at cutting my own hair.”

Q: What is one lesson the past year has taught you?

A: “The importance of making an effort to stay connected to the people that I care for. Also that it’s okay to take a break and put aside some time for myself.”
