AAPS to determine the start of winter sports

Mishal Charania and Quinn Newhouse

As of Jan. 15, winter sports have been postponed by Ann Arbor Public Schools. AAPS announced that they plan to have a final decision on all winter sports early next week. This comes just a day after the MHSAA announced a schedule and new guidelines for winter sports. Athletes may continue to have virtual sessions with coaches as well as any outdoor socially-distanced training. The Women’s Dive team will still compete at their States meet today at five p.m. and the Women’s Swim team will compete tomorrow.

“Out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our athletes, coaches and community we are carefully considering all aspects of winter sports based on the recent update by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services,” AAPS stated in a recent release.

Athletes, coaches and parents will be updated once AAPS has finalized their decision. For more information on individual sports practices, reach out to individual coaches.
