As the NCAA March Madness tournament is ongoing, fans across the country are experiencing excitement, surprises, and disappointment that comes with filling out brackets. Two fans of college basketball, Nasser and Jetten Shah, shared their thoughts on how their brackets are holding up and who they believe will win it all.
Nasser reported that his bracket has been performing well so far. Ranked around 1.5 million on ESPN, he sees his results as “solid” especially considering the unpredictable games of the tournament. “It’s pretty much what I expected,” he said. “There have been a few upsets some things I got right, some things I didn’t.” Despite the odds he is rooting for Michigan State to take home the championship.
Jetten Shah had a slightly different experience. While his bracket started off strong, a couple of incorrect picks quickly set him back by a lot. He says “It was going pretty well until last night,” he explained. “I got two picks wrong.” Unlike Nasser, Jetten’s bracket has not gone as he expected overall. Jetten said he wants Michigan to win, but believes Arizona is currently the strongest team and most likely to come out on top.
Both of them were asked about the idea of a perfect bracket, something that has never officially been achieved by anyone ever. While the odds are extremely low, Jetten said it perfectly “Anything’s possible.” That’s exactly why why March Madness is fun every year.
This year, my bracket has been one of my best and it’s felt pretty predictable for me. If you actually watch the games, look at stats, and pay attention to the history of matchups, everything starts to make a lot more sense. It’s not completely random and theres some skill involved if you know what you’re looking at.
March Madness is still kind of like the lottery. The odds of getting a perfect bracket are around 1 in 9.2 quintillion, which basically means it’s not going to happen. Even if you know basketball really well, there’s always going to be unexpected upsets that mess things up. That’s just how the tournament works.
I’d say if you can get around 80% of your bracket correct, you actually know what you’re doing. In my case, I’ve been sitting at about 99.5% correct, so it’s been going really well for me. But even with that, there are no more perfect brackets left, according to ESPN and other sites, which just shows how hard it really is.
At the end of the day, that’s what makes March Madness fun. It’s not just about getting everything correct it’s about the excitement, the surprises, and competing with other people. So just enjoy it, and if you haven’t made one try making a bracket next year with friends or family.
