Grace is currently in 12th grade, and this is her second year on the Emery’s staff. Grace is part of choir at Huron, and dance outside of school. In her free time she like read, cook, and hang out with friends. Grace’s favorite movie is Interstellar and her favorite flavor of ice cream is strawberry. Something Grace is proud of is getting to teach dance to little kids.

Many of the hallways at Huron are curved, which mirrors the outside shape of Huron. This particular hallway is in the music wing. As you walk farther into the two circles of the school, the circles created by the hallways become progressively smaller, until at the center, there is either an auditorium or a gym.

Concrete on the walls of the staircases leading up to the arches is molded into a irregular vertical ridged pattern. Vertical design is found in the wood paneling in Meyers auditorium as well. The vertical ridges in this case make the staircase feel taller and larger than it is. Since there are not many windows in these staircases, the illusion of a larger space helps to make the staircase more spacious.

Outside of Meyers auditorium, the brick walls surrounding the auditorium were designed in a zigzag pattern. The hallway where the main entrance to Meyers is curved, and the zigzag walls help to hide that. They also frame the entrance to the auditorium. Like the wood paneling, the zigzag walls also help to invite people into Meyers. With both of these design features leading people into Meyers auditorium, even just the entrance to the auditorium is memorable.

Bricks are a common feature throughout Huron. Terracotta colored brick walls such as this one near the book depository are in many Huron hallways. The continual use of bricks throughout Huron is one of its unique design features.

Several large curved window walls mimic the shape of the arches around the outside of Huron. These windows lead to the library, cafeteria, and math office, among other things. Much like the arch itself, these windows are instantly recognizable as part of Huron’s architecture.

"The Arch” is a defining feature of Huron. It separates the Huron building into two halves with four hallways connecting them. Originally, cars drove under and through this arch. Now, students walk under or through the arch to get to their classes.

In the arch, there are two floors with classrooms. These two hallways are found on the second floor of the school. Each floor has two hallways that mirror each other. These hallways make up the “400” section of the school. Walking through these hallways is a common way to get from one side of the school to another.

Vertical wood paneling is outside and inside of Meyers auditorium. This particular paneling is outside of Meyers, to the right of the main doors. The continuity of paneling throughout the auditorium, and just outside of it, helps to invite people into Meyers. Inside of Meyers, the paneling frames the stage, which brings attention to a performance.

The spotlight studded ceiling and wood paneling of Meyers auditorium. Huron has two auditoriums, the Ingram theater, and Meyers auditorium. The spotlights on the ceiling of Meyers not only make it a great place for concerts and plays, but also allows assemblies to be held in normal lighting.

Decorative brick walls can be found outside, near the senior parking lot. On a cloudy day like the one when this photo was taken, the bricks are a muted terracotta color. In contrast to the typical brick walls found around Huron, these walls are arranged in a lattice-like pattern that hides utilities behind it while still being interesting.
