Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and what hobbies/sports you do.
A: My name is Nathalie Cho and I’m a sophomore at Huron High School. I’ve played field hockey since I was in elementary school after my older sister did. She taught me and even helps coach the Huron team sometimes. I also play the cello and I recently got into writing.
Q: How is this year’s learning different from last years?
A: On the first day of school, I could already tell that this year was going to require more effort than last year. Even though the learning hasn’t really started yet because it’s only the second week of school, I’d say the atmosphere is a little more serious.
Q: Which classes have you found the most interesting and why?
A: Currently, I’m most interested in personal project. Mostly because I get the freedom to create and learn about whatever I want.
Q: Describe something that surprised you coming back to school this year that you weren’t expecting?
A: I wasn’t expecting the new phone policy. Last year, everyone was able to have their phones on them and none of my teachers were strict about them. Now, I have to put my phone in a little cubby for the entirety of class.
Q: What are your thoughts about personal project? What were some challenges you have faced so far? What are you working on?
A: I really like the freedom everybody has with choosing what they want to do with their project. A challenge that I’ve faced is deciding what to make my project about. I really want my project to be something that I’ll be proud of, so I’ve been trying to think of something that I’m truly interested in, but will also be fun to learn about.
Q: If you could change one thing from your freshman self, what would it be?
A: I would change my confidence/self-esteem. When I was a freshman, I had very low self-esteem and I was kind of insecure. I didn’t really put myself out there at all, and I was scared of judgment. If I could change that part about my freshman self, I think I would’ve had a much better freshman year.
