On Oct. 4, Scarlett Middle School announced that the school will be closed, including all after school activities for the day due to the online threats on Scarlett students found around social media.

“Student and staff safety and well-being will continue as our top priority,” Scarlett Principal Gerald Vazquez said in an email sent out in the morning.

The administration has been receiving a number of reports and concerns from students and families regarding the ongoing threat.

“Be assured that the Scarlett administration is following all appropriate safety protocols in investigating this threat,” Vazquez said. “We are also working closely with the Ann Arbor Police in investigating this matter.”

While the investigation continues, Scarlett middle school students are expected to return to school from Oct. 5.
