Freshman Friday: Tom Tan
April 1, 2022
Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and what hobbies/sports you do.
A: “My name is Tom and I like going outside and playing my violin.”
Q: How would you describe your transition from middle to high school?
A: “I expected high school to be a lot harder than middle school but surprisingly the amount of school work I’m getting right now is a lot less than I expected.”
Q: What class was the most interesting this year and why?
A: “Probably PLTW because I was able to 3D print some things that I designed on my computer as well as laser cutting things.”
Q: What are 3 words to describe your first year of high school so far and why did you choose them?
A: “Great, productive, and interesting. I chose these words because in my opinion, high school is a lot better than middle school and the structure of high school functions a lot more differently than middle school.”
Q: How has high school surprised you so far? Were there any skills you had to learn to get work done or fit school into your schedule?
A: “I was really surprised by how flexible the schedules are. You’re able to choose from a much larger variety of classes in high school than in middle school.”
Q: How are you feeling about the end of the school year?
A: “I feel like the school year passed a lot faster than I expected.”
Q: How do you want to remember your high school experience four years later? What are you doing now or how do you plan to make that happen?
A: “I want to make sure that my high school experience will be productive and fun at the same time. I hope to accomplish that by being productive doing school work and also trying out new things that interest me.”
