The Huron Freshman Soccer team lost 3-1 to Skyline in their third match-up against the Eagles on Tuesday at Riverbank Stadium. Despite the tough result, the team showed resilience in the second half.
Head coach Sara-Beth Badalamente praised her team’s preparation.
“The boys and I had been practicing for the past week and a half, focusing on speed of play,” she said.
Huron struggled early on, allowing Skyline to control much of the first half, but the team’s focus sharpened in the latter stages of the game.
Freshman Joseph Conley scored Huron’s lone goal with an assist from Dillian Freeth, inspiring the team.
“It was a really difficult match, and Skyline played really well,” Conley said. “We should’ve scored more in the second half, but it still felt good to get one in.”
Despite the loss, Huron showed grit and promise for the rest of the season. The River Rats next game is Saturday at 9 a.m. at River Bank Stadium against the Brighton Bulldogs.
