When I first heard Ed Sheeran, I thought he was an amazing singer. He sings pop, hip hop, R&B, Soft Rock and Folk music. I heard about his albums X, Divide and Number 6 collaboration projects which are my favorite albums. X was released on June 20, 2014, which was produced by Ed Sheeran and Rudimental. Divide was released on March 3, 2017. No. 6 Collaborations project was released on July 12, 2019. Equals was released on October 29, 2021. I really love listening to Ed Sheeran regularly and I download his albums on Apple music.
Equals is his fifth studio album that was produced by Asylum and Atlantic Records. It supported his songs “Bad Habits”, “Shivers”, “Overpass Graffiti” and “Visiting Hours.” He also released an acoustic version and some remixes of Bad Habits which was the first song he released. It came out on June 25, 2021. When I first heard it, it sounded very different like it was an electronic dance pop song. It was written and produced by Ed Sheeran, Fred Again, Johnny McDaid and Fred Gibson. The song scored Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and the UK charts.
There are a lot of themes, points of view and motifs throughout the album which is No 1 on the Billboard 200 charts. Some songs are about relationships like First times, Overpass Graffiti, Collide, Love in Slow motion, The Joker and the Queen and Bad Habits. When I first heard those songs, I thought they were absolutely amazing. I love the melody and the tune in them. The melodies and the tunes are beautiful and sweet because they talk about love and relationships that he was in. When I listened to it I thought it was very pretty. The Joker and The Queen is a cinematic piano ballad and Sandman is a children’s lullaby which is about his daughter. He wrote First Times with his brother Matthew Sheeran in Nashville Tennessee which is more of a pop song.
He also does a string part in this song. I can tell “Overpass Graffiti” is about a relationship he was in a long time ago because two of the lyrics he says are “There are times when I can still feel your ghost “ “And I know time may change the way you think of us.” When I first heard that I felt sad and I didn’t know he had a girlfriend at that time. I also can tell Ed Sheeran spent a lot of time working on this album because he wrote so many songs for it. I’m excited to see what’s coming next for him. I would definitely see him again on tour just like I did 3 years ago on his Divide tour at Ford Field in Detroit when I was 14 with my family. It was such a fun concert. He had two open acts that performed like Anne-Marie and Snow Patrol who were on tour with him at that time. When he came out, the fans started cheering and screaming.
The first song he performed was Castle on the Hill and then at the end he came out wearing a Matthew Stafford Jersey and performed Shape of you. I can’t wait to see him again on tour some time. I definitely would recommend his new album Equals and I think people will love it. You can stream it now on Apple Music, Spotify and more.
