The Huron women’s golf team wrapped up their season on Oct. 6 after competing in the regional competition. It was a successful season, according to co-captain Sasha Lee, especially after a year of virtual events.

“I’m really grateful because I missed a lot of my friends, and I missed playing golf as a team,” Lee said. “I’m glad I get to see everyone in person and hang out and talk to them face to face.”

Lee, who is currently a senior, also reflected on what she will miss the most about playing for the Huron golf team.

“I will definitely miss the food we buy before practice and eating together and sharing the good moments of laughter when we hit a bad ball,” Lee said.

For freshman Emmi Conrad, the season was her introduction to high school.

“Since golf starts a little bit before school starts, it was really fun getting to meet new people before the school year started,” Conrad said, “that way I knew some people when I went into high school.”

Conrad, who had played golf for three years prior to joining the Huron golf team, made the varsity team as a freshman.

“I was nervous at first because the other people on varsity were all upperclassmen, but they were all so nice to me,” Conrad said.

With the season’s conclusion, the members have hopes for future seasons and new members.

“I definitely recommend joining golf. It’s a lifelong sport,” Lee said. “And I hope the new members of the golf team will continue to carry out our traditions of taking care of the underclassmen and having great seasons.”
