Teacher Tuesday: Sara Neevel

Visruth Rajendiran, Staff Writer

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

A: “My name’s Mrs. Neevel. This is my third year teaching at Huron. Before teaching at Huron I was an Event Manager at Hope College. I spend most of my free time reading, face-timing my nephew, singing to myself, or running to Mrs. Badalamente’s house to wave hello outside her window.”

Q: What has been your favorite part about this school year?

A: “I’ve been helping with the Huron Players productions, and it’s been a lot of fun to see students get creative with the zoom boxes and the virtual shows this year. Also, showing my dog to all of my classes.”

Q: What do you miss about Huron?

A: “The people!!”

Q: What is one goal you have for this year?

A: “One goal I have this year is to read more books in genres that I wouldn’t typically choose.”

Q: What is your favorite class and why?

A: “As a student, my favorite class was Team Sports because I’m very competitive and love all sports. As a teacher, I love teaching AP Lang because of the content and real-world application – understanding the rhetoric around us in our daily lives!”

Q: What hobbies/sports do you do?

A: “Some hobbies include hiking with my husband and dog, Boatswain. Lots of time outside – playing spike ball, pickleball, and basketball. Looking forward to playing pick-up again when it’s safe to do so.”
