A flaw in the system – Huron’s lunch lines

Ding! The lunch bell sounds. That’s the cue.

My friend and I fast-walk through the hallways, trying to get to the lunch line door as fast as possible.

If we’re lucky, we get to wait inside the door. If we happened to be a little later, we’d be stuck outside the lunch door in the crowded hallway.

Once inside the lunch door, it’s yet another wait.

The cramped line barely inches forward.

After ten minutes of waiting, we finally see the food options.

Choosing food options, my friends and I take two factors into account: how average the food looks and how long that specific food line is.

Waiting in line to get the food, and waiting again to type in our student ID’s takes another 5-7 minutes.

By the time we sit down, it’s almost 12pm. We barely have five minutes left.

Upon receiving our schedules at the beginning of the year, my friends and I were ecstatic to have the same lunch period so we could catch up.

Having the same lunch period turned out to be a disappointment. Within five minutes of sitting down, it was time to get back up again.

The lunch line is dreadful and the school administration needs to take action. Whether that’s hiring more lunch staff, managing more food stations, or making sure there is enough of each food option to last the whole lunch, something needs to be done.

This is sadly unacceptable for students trying to refuel for the rest of the day. Who is responsible for making positive changes for the lunch process at Huron??
