The Emery students receive an award from Columbia Scholastic Press Association
Fu and Ko received the gold circle award.

Seniors Gina Ko and Sandra Fu received awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) for their photography in “The Huron Emery.”
They received a gold circle award for student work together for their photo slideshow titled “Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan holds Bans Off Our Bodies rally at the University of Michigan Diag” under the category of “Photo Slideshow.”
“I’m really honored because not many people win CSPA awards,” Fu said.
In addition, Ko received an individual gold circle award for her photograph “Some Protestors Used Explicit Language to Get Their Point Across.” This award was under the category “Single Spot News Photograph.”
“I didn’t expect to get an award because it was a national award, so it was really surprising,” Ko said.
