“It’s a huge benefit working at HSHV that we see families expand with love every day,” Humane Society manager Wendy Welch said.

On a whim, I decided to visit Huron Valley’s Humane Society on a December afternoon. With my camera in hand, I strolled from Uptown Cats to Dogtown, spoke to many volunteers, and amassed an absurd number of cat portraits. Scroll down, click and hover on the dots to relive my quaint day trip.

Of course we could have shut down, but we know so many in the community, both 2- and 4-legged, who rely on our services. Animals still need us, and arguably, we need them, too.
