As of Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, the MHSAA approved a schedule adjustment for five winter sports. For boys’ and girls’ basketball, competitive cheer, ice hockey, and wrestling, non-contact practice will begin on Jan. 16, with contact practice allowed to begin Feb. 1.

The first games/contests are allowed to begin on Feb. 1 for ice hockey, Feb. 4 for boys’ and girls’ basketball, and Feb. 8 for competitive cheer and wrestling.

This comes after the MHSAA’s decision to postpone all winter sports in November. Spring sports are to start on time with first practices on March 15.
