Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

A: “This is my first year teaching at Huron! I teach Introductory Psychology, IB Psychology and Applied Psychology. I grew up in a small town in southeast Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan in 2020. In my free time, I like to bake, watch Netflix and make awesome dance playlists.”

Q: What has been your favorite part about this school year?

A: “My favorite part of this school year has been connecting with my students. Even though we’re virtual, there have been a lot of moments where I have felt so happy that I get to work with all of my amazing students. The funny interactions that we have during class have helped me to stay positive and motivated.”

Q: What do you miss about Huron?

A: “I have never been in the building! I did bike around the parking lot though and it seemed cool. I can’t wait to see my classroom for the first time; hopefully, that will happen sometime in 2021.”

Q: What is one goal you have for this year?

A: “This sounds a bit dark but my goal is to just make it through the year. It’s hard being a first-year teacher; it’s hard teaching online; it’s hard living through this pandemic. I will feel so proud of myself just for completing my first year teaching during a global pandemic. I also hope I can bring some joy and interest to online learning for my students. I feel so happy when my students get passionate about a topic in my class or just laugh at one of my jokes.”

Q: What is your favorite class and why?

A: “I don’t have a favorite class to teach. When I was in high school I took a class called Writing About Film where we just watched movies and then wrote about them. I love storytelling and culture and history so that was an interesting class for me.”

Q: What hobbies/sports do you do?

A: “I like to think I’m a pretty good dancer. I would like to teach a dance fitness class one day. I also recently learned how to crochet which has been a fun quarantine activity. I made my whole family hats for Christmas.”
