Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

A: “I’ve been a teacher since 2003. I have traveled all over the US, only missing visits to Maine and Alaska to cover all 50 states. I have been coaching volleyball since 1994 and played during my undergrad years at Hope College. I have a wonderful wife, an amazing eight year old daughter and a great dog who is the worst leash walking dog of all time.”

Q: What has been your favorite part about this school year?

A: “It has been nice to be able to spend time with my family immediately after the school day ends.”

Q: What do you miss about Huron?

A: “I miss the incredible community both of teachers and students. I had just begun working at Huron in January of 2020 and only began to establish those relationships but they are so central to Huron being a home.”

Q: What is one goal you have for this year?

A: “I want to find a way to create a virtual environment that feels more like the classroom and promotes student interaction and participation. Any advice towards that end is always welcome.”

Q: What is your favorite class and why?

A: “I am enjoying the Precalculus classes I teach. The students in class never fail to impress me with their insights and ability.”

Q: What hobbies/sports do you do?

A: “I play volleyball when I am able to and strategy board games every chance I get. Currently, I have been playing a game called Terraforming Mars a couple of times a week and am enjoying it.”
