Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

A: “My name is Kate and I am a senior. I have one older sister who is a senior in college. Before coming to Huron I went to Honey Creek Community School which is a very small charter school for grades K-8. I love spending time with my family and I am lucky to have them live in the Ann Arbor area.”

Q: What has been your favorite part about this school year?

A: “I think that the best part of this school year so far has been being able to play field hockey. We were lucky enough to have a full season so that was great to have something be normal, in a sense, this year.”

Q: What do you miss about Huron?

A: The biggest thing that I miss about Huron is seeing all of my friends. It is hard not being able to see people in person and just talking to them face-to-face. I think that being virtual has also made it very difficult to make new friends or meet new people so that has been hard.”

Q: What is one goal you have for this year?

A: “For this year as a senior, I hope to finish strong academically. It is hard as a senior in general to stay focused towards the end and virtual school is taking a toll but I want to work hard. Keeping myself accountable and making sure that I don’t let myself slip is very important to me especially with going into college next year where you have to hold yourself accountable.”

Q: What is your favorite class and why?

A: “My favorite class is probably math right now. While it is a fairly difficult class it is super small, with only 8 students, and it is a two-year course so we have all gotten super close. It is also with one of my favorite teachers, Ms. Taube, and I have had her since sophomore year and she is amazing. She explains the concepts in a way that is easy to understand and has helped me get through some hard topics.”

Q: What hobbies/sports do you do?

A: “I play field hockey with Huron as well as with Pinnacle, a travel team that I have been playing with since 5th grade. I also started rowing for Huron my sophomore year in the spring season and it is super fun, especially since a lot of my friends also row.”
