Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and what hobbies/sports you do.
A: “I’m Meena, and I’m a sophomore at Huron. I really like music, reading, and drawing. I currently don’t do any sports, but I did do cross country freshman year. ”
Q: How is this year’s learning different than last year’s?
A: “I think in freshman year, you don’t realize how easy the classes are compared to sophomore year. There are more options for classes you can take.”
Q: Which classes have you found the most interesting and why?
A: “I think the classes I find most interesting are physics and band because I haven’t done much physics before, and the concepts are very cool and easy to understand. I like band because there’s always something going on.
Q: Describe something that surprised you coming back to school this year that you weren’t expecting?
A: “I think something that surprised me was getting MacBooks. They are lighter and make school work a lot easier.”
Q: What are your thoughts about personal project? What were some challenges you have faced so far? What are you working on?
A: “I think personal project is a really nice class to take during a class period and not during lunch because it gives you time to finish your project, and acts as an hour that’s more laid back. A challenge I’ve faced is getting my criteria to meet the IB requirements because they are so specific, and it’s hard to get a good score. My project is botanical illustrations, which are basically scientific drawings of plants.”
Q: If you could change one thing from your freshman self, what would it be?
A: “I think I would change my work ethic and how much effort I put in. At the beginning of freshman year, I was putting more effort in than in the second semester. I also think looking over course material in the summer helps to understand content in new classes.”
