Huron’s women’s water polo team will play in the state playoffs today.

“Last year, we were in the final regional game, but we lost to Skyline,” senior and captain Zannah Baker said. “So it was exciting to kind of get revenge this year. We’re just really excited for this postseason.”

After not making it last year, Huron is looking forward to what is ahead for them, making it known that they are going strong for a chance at the state title.

“Well, we’d love to be state champions,” Baker said.”We’d love to be at least in the state championship game, but I just feel happy if everyone was just proud of how far we go and how everyone played individually.”

Baker says that she is hopeful that after this senior class leaves they will give a resonating boost to the players that come after them.

“We have a lot of seniors who are graduating, so we’re gonna leave behind a much smaller team,” Baker said. “But because we’re such a close-knit team, I feel like we’re leaving behind a legacy.”

The first game that The Rats will play is on Friday, June 3 at 11 a.m. And if they win they will play another game at 6:30 p.m. which would be the state semi-finals.
