Sophomore Saturday: Catherine Li

Visruth Rajendiran, Staff Writer

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

A: “Hey! I’m Catherine and I’m a sophomore at Huron High School.”

Q: What has been your favorite part about this school year?

A: “My favorite part of the school year was the first couple of months because I was able to participate in fall sports and swim with my girls on the team. It was nice to get out of the house and have some social interaction.”

Q: What do you miss about Huron?

A: “I miss all of the random social interactions that I’d get at Huron. I didn’t realize it at the time, but bumping into some friends or acquaintances in the hallway and talking to them for a bit was one of the highlights of my day.”

Q: What is one goal you have for this year?

A: “Honestly, this year has been such a rollercoaster that even making it through the first semester was great. But a goal that I have going forward is to prioritize socializing with my peers, even though everything is online.”

Q: What is your favorite class and why?

A: “My favorite class is Principles of Engineering because I can learn and pursue projects that I am interested in. One of our most recent projects was designing and using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to model it. It was so fun and I enjoyed it!”

Q: What hobbies/sports do you do?

A: “In terms of sports, I swim for Huron’s Women’s Swim and Dive team in the fall and I row on the Crew team in the spring. I love to play music and I play the trumpet and piano. In my free time, I’ll also read a fun novel.”
