Sophomore Saturday: Connor Newell
February 6, 2021
Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
A: “My name is Connor Newell and I’m a sophomore this year. I’m 15 years old and an only child. I went to Clague Middle School and my dad works at Huron as an IB coordinator.”
Q: What has been your favorite part about this school year?
A: “Probably the orchestra showcase. It was fun seeing all the hard work we put into the pieces finally pay off and we could all play together despite not having been able to interact in-person.”
Q: What do you miss about Huron?
A: “I miss talking to people in-person and it’s annoying having to look at a screen for the majority of the day. It’s also way easier to communicate with the teacher in-person.”
Q: What is one goal you have for this year?
A: “A goal I have for this year is to increase my athletic ability. Mainly being strength, agility and endurance. I started training after the Huron soccer season because it’s easier to manage time when I don’t have constant soccer practices. I’m looking to gain more progress this year and push myself.”
Q: What is your favorite class and why?
A: “At the moment probably government because Mr. Long is super chill and I like the type of material that we cover in class. Government-related things are also interesting to me as a whole so that helps.”
Q: What hobbies/sports do you do?
A: “I play soccer, the violin and watch a lot of sports. Also, I run around with my dog outside frequently.”
