Last Saturday, I went to visit Yoon’s Bakery located at 2775 Plymouth Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105. Yoon’s is a Korean-Bakery, based on French style of baking that serves a variety of freshly baked goods, and a well-curated selection of drinks. Found near the North Campus of the University of Michigan, the bakery is not only loved by local residents, but also highly visited by college students.
I arrived around noon and found the store to be lively. They had most of their goods already on display, with few still waiting to be packaged in the back. Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was the minimalistic design of the store, and the immaculate floors. While walking around, I noticed that all the goods were displayed in a neat fashion, with ingredients and pricing placed directly in front of the product, making the shopping experience easy and convenient. After browsing all the goods and drinks they had to offer, I settled on the Mango Green Tea ($4.50), Pumpkin Cream Cheese Ciabatta ($4.60), and the Sweet Potato Bread ($1.60).
The Mango Green Tea was iced, making it a great refreshing drink on the unexpectedly hot October day. I found it to be a bit sweeter than what I normally would prefer, however the strong mango flavor blended with the green tea made it quite enjoyable. Additionally, it was reasonably priced.
The Pumpkin Cream Cheese Ciabatta is one of their new seasonal products. I was very excited when I saw this on display, but was disappointed with the taste as it did not live up to my expectations. The dough felt a bit dense in the middle, with the edges being a bit too stale. There was also hardly any pumpkin flavor, with a few pumpkin chunks and paste spread throughout the center. The cream cheese was also stuffed into one small corner of the bread, resulting in uneven distribution of the flavor. For the price, I would say skip out on this the next time you stop by.
