The Book Club at Huron High School hasn’t seen more than five people at a time, until this year. The Co-Presidents Juniors Emily Stone and Elle Wilson are transforming the book club into a fun and casual environment.

“What we’re trying to do is make a community, where maybe you didn’t read the section but you can still come, have fun, and talk to people,” Wilson said.

This is the first year with Wilson and Stone working together to run the club. They were interested in joining and they talked to the teacher advisor, Claire Federhofer.

“The past leadership just wasn’t showing up or doing anything,” Wilson said. “Emily and I really wanted to be in this club so we were like, I guess if we want to be in the book club we have to lead the book club.”

The Co-Presidents want to not only read and discuss literature but also try to help Huron as a community.

“There’s no pressure to read a book in a really short amount of time, read it for as long as you need to. It can be fun for everyone.” Stone said.
