Have you ever just screamed the lyrics to a country song because you just felt so into it? This is something that you can only get with country, and that’s why I think country music is better than rap music. Its relatable themes, its emotional connection and the vibes of it truly make it stand out.
Don’t get me wrong rap music is good but I think that while listening to country music, we see these common themes of love, loss, family, and hard work etc. While listening to rap, we see these themes, but I think they are portrayed in a different way and to me aren’t as relatable. Not everyone has been able to drive fast cars or purchase crazy designer bags, but almost everyone has worked a job they didn’t like or has missed someone. That’s why I think country is better because it embraces the ordinary, daily, and everyday and turns it into something relatable.
The emotional connection to country I think relates to its common themes where we can relate back to the singer and the song therefore feeling the nostalgia and the feel-good emotions. Country music doesn’t try to be flashy, it tells the truth straight up. Country music has a way of grounding us. It reminds us of our roots from family dinners, old neighbors or friends, small towns or big towns that feel small, and the kind of nights that live forever in your heart. Even if you didn’t grow up on a farm or in a rural town, the themes in country songs, belonging, nostalgia, and loyalty are in everyone.
The vibes kind of relate to what I’ve said in the last two paragraphs, which just bring everything together. Country music is about life’s raw, unfiltered moments, and the artists tell us that perfect story. Whether it’s heartbreak or joy, country doesn’t shy away from emotion. There’s something about country music that can make you laugh, cry, and remember who you are all in the same three-chord song.
In a world that often moves too fast, country music slows us down just enough.
