Music is dying. We hear music in our everyday lives or may even practice music; even so I feel like music is dying.
In today’s era, we don’t see any new artists coming out and selling out shows or getting recognition for their music because of the way music is pushed and marketed like when you hear the same ad with the same song playing over it or when a particular song gains traction on an app like TikTok, these are ways big artists can market to a wide audience. If you’re not making the next big pop song that people play in grocery stores or making a rap song then it’s not something that people may pay much attention to. This point could be, and should be, argued for as it is something that should be changed in the music industry.
For me, I’ve always liked listening to all different types of music; it ranges from pop, rap, indie, indie rock, Latin, etc. Whoever and whatever was on didn’t matter as long as there was some type of music playing. One day, I came across a song called “Cherry” by Delicate Steve. I gained an appreciation and love for the variety of instruments used and how well each aspect worked in the song, even though they seemed like they couldn’t work together. I continued to listen to the song and quickly developed an obsession with it.
Delicate Steve is an alternative artist whose music is primarily instrumentals and uses that skill to his advantage by “singing“ through the various instruments he plays. This was demonstrated through the multiple unique songs he has available in his discography, Steve has a wide variation in sound and states his influences include artists such as Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, Red Hot Chili Peppers. These influences play a role in the unique guitar instrumental music that Delicate Steve produces.
With that being said, if you appreciate relaxing music and are tired of the same similar sounds being played throughout your world, I would personally recommend Delicate Steve as a way to branch out and listen to the kind of music you want to listen to, and not the music that is being forced into you. You can listen to Delicate Steve on Spotify or Apple Music.
