Many people have all had their experiences with modern art. Whether you find it at a museum, on the wall, or even on the streets it’s very easy to point out modern art. Modern art has its unique look that doesn’t compare to art in the Victorian days; this has something to do with our time period. Along with this idea, we now have more people who are not afraid to stand out and paint their ideas. However, much of the public is not fully supportive of this new era of artists and their pieces.
The battle of modern art being claimed as actually art has been going on for a long time. Much of the public claim that they are tired of seeing modern art at shows because of how it looks. So many people say modern art has no real artistic skill or talent shown on the pieces. Those who go to art museums claim that a kindergartener could make better art than what is being produced.
The pieces they are mainly talking about are the ones with blank canvases or actual people acting out the art. I think a main issue in this is that it’s just easier to understand the message of past art pieces versus modern art.
It’s unfair not to give credit to the artists of modern art. No matter how much you may not like their work it still counts as art. Most art pieces being created have a message or background that the artist is trying to portray. Some have rushed to defend this exact message that all art has a purpose and the public should not put one down for how they express this.
While people have been defending modern art it’s been putting more of a rift against their cause. Those who are passionate about modern art say that you have to be artistic to understand and many of the public won’t get the message because they aren’t. I don’t know how they think that is going to help people to like modern art.
Art will always be changing no matter what. You don’t have to like a certain artstyle and that’s okay. You should recognize that behind those art pieces are people who put their effort into something they want to show. Art doesn’t have to be understandable or pretty, which is something our society can’t wrap their heads around.
