Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and things you do in and out of school.
A: I’m Izzy! In school, I like to try out new clubs, like the Greenhouse Club and APEX. I play cello so I’m part of the Huron orchestra and I really enjoy that in school! Outside of school, I do a lot of reading, creative writing and hanging out with friends!
Q: Out of all your extracurriculars, clubs, and sports, which one is your favorite and why?
A: My favorite club would probably be APEX because I get to learn a new skill, like staffing or glowsticking, and I get to hang out with my friends! I also like that APEX gets to perform for middle schools and at Multi Culti so I’m excited for those events too!
Q: How are you liking your first year at Huron?
A: I’m really liking my first year at Huron! I like all of my classes a lot and the electives I get to take like yearbook. I also enjoy being able to eat outside for lunch because it’s nice to get some fresh air in the middle of the day! I like the bigger school and how many clubs there are too!
Q: What is your favorite class so far and why?
A: My favorite class so far is my world history class. I like it a lot because of the topics we’re covering like religion and how ancient civilizations influence the modern day population! It’s very interesting and engaging!
Q: Who is one of your favorite teachers and why?
A: One of my favorite teachers is Mrs. Horwitz because I love how she runs her class, with free reading Friday’s, and how she’s always playing music in the morning. Also how she makes lessons entertaining and engaging.
Q: What is a class you want to take in the future and why?
A: A class I want to take in the future would probably be newspaper because I just learned more about how articles are written and how interviews are conducted in yearbook class. And that really piqued my interest in journalism and I would like to be part of that class in the future.
Q: What is something you weren’t expecting about high school?
A: Something I wasn’t expecting about high school was how crowded the hallways are. I heard before high school how crowded they were, but actually being in the hallway with that many people is a lot. It’s kind of a shock to realize how many people are in the school!
Q: What advice would you give about the first weeks of high school to incoming 8th graders?
A: I would say definitely create a routine, like what routes you take to your classes, when you use the bathroom and who you walk with because it makes the first few weeks easier to navigate! Also, be open to meeting new people because there are a lot of new people and it’s a great chance to make new friends!
Q: What is an interesting fact or hidden talent about yourself?
A: An interesting fact about me is that I’ve never broken any bones.
Q: What is a hot take of yours?
A: A take of mine is that pineapple is really good on pizza!
