In honor of the ten year anniversary of The River Rat Writing Prize, the 2024 Huron literary magazine will highlight many of the past winners. The River Rat Writing Prize celebrates the work of the Huron community and winners of the prize receive a financial reward of 100 dollars and recognition for their contributions. Submissions for 2024 have been closed, but more information can be found at www.riverratwritingprize.com.
The Full Circle publication is a magazine that features the literary work of Huron students. The current issue presents the writing of many of the past winners in the past decade. It includes stories from current and graduating students, Freshmen Sophia Debiec, Chloe Lin, and Mia Lin, Sophomore Salem Dinh, Juniors Yuanchen Zhao, Maya Martinson, and Lily Zocher, and Seniors Melinda Mei, Siegfied Martin, and Sam Regenbogen.
“Winning the river rat writing prize was definitely a bit of a surprise,” Martinson said. “I entered last year and the year before, with limited results, so it was quite cool to find out I won. I’m definitely flattered to be featured, and I’m continuously writing to keep improving my works!”
