Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and what hobbies/sports you do.
A: “I’ve been teaching now for 14 years (the last 6 have been at Huron) and I am a HUGE pop culture person. I love movies, TV, music, books, celebrity culture, etc. Ask my students–I know way too much about all of these topics and love to share this knowledge with others!”
Q: What do you teach and why?
A: “This year I teach AP English Literature, English 9, Personal Project (first semester) and Advanced Journalism (first semester). In the past I also taught Psychology (both AP and General). I love all things English and Psychology and love the classes I get to teach.”
Q: Have you always been interested in teaching?
A: “Pretty much since I was in kindergarten! There’s even a book I wrote for kindergarten at my house where I say in the About Me Bio that I want to be a teacher when I grow up.”
Q: What/who inspired you to become a teacher?
A: “I was so lucky to have had absolutely wonderful English teachers (and teachers overall) growing up. Two of them in particular were my 8th grade English teacher (Mrs. Minninger) and my 10th and 12th grade English teacher (Mr. Palizzi) who were so passionate and inspiring in how much they clearly loved their jobs, loved their subject, and loved their students. They made me really want to become an English teacher just like them.”
Q: What do you do in your free time?
A: “Mainly spend time with my two kids (they’re 8 and 5)! I also love to read and I watch WAY too much TV”
Q: What is one motto you will always live by?
A: “Live your life in such a way that if anyone were to speak badly about you behind your back that nobody would believe it.”
Q: What is your favorite teaching moment?
A: “I honestly have so, so many. I will say that one moment I have every year is being able to teach Pride and Prejudice with my AP Lit seniors because it’s my absolute favorite book of all time and I love being able to share that joy with my students.”
Q: What surprised you about this year?
A: “How quickly it has flown by!”
